GAPS 2018: The Apologies of Socrates

September 29, 2018

Emory University

Special thanks to Susan Bredlau of Emory University for co-organizing.

▷ READING:

Participants must read Plato’s Apology and Xenophon’s Apology closely in advance. An English translation of Plato with Stephanus pagination is greatly preferred. Some of us will be using the Focus edition containing both texts. Knowledge of Greek is not necessary to participate, but here is the English-Greek parallel of the Plato.

▷ DISCUSSION:

Participants are all welcome to speak, but should not feel specifically obligated to do so. The core goal of our discussion is to practice the virtues of respectful dialogue. With this aim in mind, we suggest reviewing the GAPS Conversation Guidelines.
